wind machine sound sample
This is a simple analog wind machine circuit. It's essentially a white noise generator with a frequency control. I found this circuit over at diystompboxes. You can get the schematic and more info there. I tried different transistors for the noise source, and ended up using an old one I had lying around.

ReplyDeleteYep you got it. I used rub on letters for this one. The 'w' in 'wind' is actually an upside down 'm' :)
Could be a "Mind Machine" :-)

ReplyDeleteLook man, all these things are nice but... We must work hard to make devices like "Storm Lord", an actual realtime weather controlling device with potentiometers for amounts of thunder, rain, brimstone etc. So you sit back on your sofa, munch popcorn and watch what you do outside the window... Or what about teleportation device == we are still in the stone age tinkering with these weak things as "let's hear the sound of wind". Comeon.

ReplyDeletenote the two jumpers under the IC that share the same hole. That's what that black dot is suppose to represent.

DeleteOk, wind machine done. I'll turn it on tomorrow morning. 50-50% that I'll be satisfied, better to go to bed nicely.
Made this last week - all it does is producing a static white noise, potentiometer changes little frequency and that's it. I thought it would morph by itself like real wind. :-)

ReplyDeletealthough, that gets me thinking... a couple LFO's or a sample and hold controlling the frequency would work quite nicely.
